Why does John speak of Jesus as “the Word”? See John 1:1-14. Consider that Jesus is the fulfillment and substance of all that God had been promising and prophesying all through the years from the beginning of all communication. Jesus was who <\/b>God had spoken about and was providing what <\/b>God was talking about throughout the Old Testament. It is fitting that Jesus would be called “the Word”, for He would be the means of God’s communication to mankind for all time to come on earth. God has in these last days spoken to us by His Son (Hebrews 1:1-2).<\/p>\n
All <\/b>that we need to know about God, living life, our purpose, destiny, and responsibility is summed up in Jesus. See John 1:1-14, 45; 5:38-40,46-47. Want to know about the origin of the universe and of man? Jesus was there. He was part of the process of creation. Did man happen by accident or evolution? No! Jesus was God, our Creator, with God our Father. See John 6:46 with John 1:1-3.<\/p>\n
Want to know about the origin of life? Jesus was there to give it. Life only comes from life. Therefore, there ultimately has to be an eternal life source. Jesus is the source of eternal life. See also John 6:67-69.<\/p>\n
John writes to affirm the deity of Jesus and to prove that Jesus is deity who came in the flesh to give us testimony and communication from God. He shows why Jesus is “the Light” on the subject of origins, purpose, duty, and destiny. He gives eyewitness testimony to the miracles, death, and resurrection that forever establishes that belief in Jesus is reasonable and that unbelief is unreasonable. Truly, Jesus is the final “Word” on all that really matters now and forever. Jesus is the final Word on origins, the way to God, the truth that makes us free, the life that we need to live.
