“You shall stand up before the gray head and honor the face of an old man, and you shall fear your God: I am the Lord<\/em>” (Leviticus 19:32 ESV). These are the ones who lived through all kinds of troubles, weathered many storms of life, and learned a few things along the way. They didn’t throw away relationships too easily, and when something needed to be repaired, they repaired it, rather than throwing it away too quickly! They learned to endure rather than give up, to be deep enough in faith, hope, and love to hold it together and wait for a better day. They have seen what you have seen and so much more, but they are also winding down their journey. They should be respected and honored! They especially should be honored if they have lived as a Christian for many years. Their durability of faith crowns them now in one sense, but you know Jesus is ready to crown them with their reward!<\/p>\nProverbs 16:31 says, “The silver-haired head is a crown of glory, if it is found in the way of righteousness<\/em>.”<\/p>\n I remember, as a child, seeing my daddy and other younger adults stand up and give their chairs to the elderly when they entered the room. Everyone stood until the elderly were seated. It was a sign of respect and honor that needs to be returned. They are still a rich source of wisdom, knowledge, and experience in the things that count!
