I have a question. I\u2019m a single mother of a 16-year-old boy and I don\u2019t want to spank him, though he needs it and nothing else seems to work. Any recommendations or ideas of who I could reach out to who might be willing to mentor him?<\/p>\n
Because I am single, I do not want to meet guys and do it with them or let them know where we live but rather find a mentor to send him for a visit (where he can discuss his behavior, life, whatever) and then spank him while explaining why and that his behavior needs to improve.<\/p>\n
I know this has weird details, but it is the best way I could think of describing it.<\/p>\n

Having a mentor (male role model) for your son is a good idea, but not as you envision it happening. I would expect you to find someone at the church you attend, hopefully, someone older who knows how to deal with teenage boys. Then it would not matter if they knew where you lived. As it stands, you seem to want someone to be a part of your son’s life without him being a part of your life.<\/p>\n
Also, you are too focused on a single method of discipline. The goal must be to grow this child into a good adult. Proper instruction requires both positive encouragement and teaching along with negative consequences and scoldings. “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord<\/strong><\/em>” (Ephesians 6:4).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Question: Hello, I have a question.
