I don’t agree with the approach the Catholics use because they’ve strayed far from the biblical teaching that the New Testament has for us. There has been considerable uproar about this since the passing of Pope Francis. People seem to think that this pope’s passing has opened a seal and has triggered the end of the world. I don’t believe them for a grocery list of reasons. I’m just wondering why this prophecy is so important to them<\/p>\n\t
The document’s formal name is “Prophecy of Saint-Archbishop Malachy, concerning the Supreme Pontiffs.” It contains a series of cryptic phrases in Latin claiming to predict the Catholic popes. The descriptions of the popes are mostly accurate up to A.D. 1590, but become highly inaccurate thereafter. Thus, the conclusion is that it was written around 1590, though it claims to have been composed by Bishop Malachy in the 12th Century. The alleged prophecy was first published in 1595 by a Benedictine monk named Arnold Wion. Many Catholic scholars believe it to be a forgery. Arnold Wion is likely the author of this document.<\/p>\n
