Jesus stated a rule that would solve many problems between people if we all were committed to living by it. It is commonly called the Golden Rule.<\/p>\n
“Do unto others as you would have them to do unto you<\/em>” (Matthew 7:12).<\/p><\/blockquote>\nThat would eliminate all criminal activity, as no one would be robbing, killing, or stealing from others because they live by the principle that “I would not have others doing that to me.”
\nIt would stop gossip and slander because people would check whether they want that or something similar said about them.\nBeing unkind and unfriendly would die out because I would not want someone to be unkind and unfriendly to me.<\/p>\nCheating on our spouse would cease because we would not have them cheating on us.
\nIf this rule were a top priority in controlling our attitudes and actions toward others, think of the potential impact it could have on our personal lives and society in general. We would value all human beings of all races because that is how we want to be valued.\nLet’s bring this rule to the front of our thinking and test ourselves through one day at a time as to how we lived by this rule, and see what a difference it can make. Not only will it benefit us now, but it will benefit us eternally, which is most important. If we do not live by this rule, we will be miserable now and forever. It should be an easy incentive.
