What you take into the heart and what comes out of the heart in kindness, care, and good deeds will be the most important factor in how your life ends. So, rather than worrying about the manner of dying (will it be cancer, heart attack, car accident, etc.?), we must spend our mental energy investing in how to live. What is the intake? This needs to be the bread of life (John 6). This is the most important thing to ensure a good living and ending. What is in the heart? What did you feed your soul?

The second most important thing is what you do with that intake. Did it mold your character, priorities, values, and love for other souls? James said the “hearers only” are not blessed in what they do (James 1:19-21). If we do not treat others well, we are really not helping ourselves, and no matter how our earth time ends, it won’t be a good ending because it was not lived well or wisely!

How do you want to be viewed by God today? How do you want the legacy of your life to play to a good end? We all know people who did not live wisely, and the end was not good. Don’t get into that rut! Live wisely and well in being a light in this dark world. If you listen to God’s word and make it a point to put it into practice, no matter how you leave this temporal body of flesh, you will have ended well because you lived well!

by Terry Wane Benton How well was the input and output?
