It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave<\/em>&#8221; (Matthew 20:25-27).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Jesus&#8217;s disciples often discussed who would be the greatest among them. In this context, the mother of two disciples wanted to be assured that her sons would have their proper place. Jesus&#8217;s response was always the same. His disciples are not going to be those who lord it over others, nor are they going to be preoccupied with glory, greatness, or popularity.<\/p>\n<p>We are called to be servants and slaves. Servants and slaves of God and servants and slaves of men. Servants and slaves do not get to lord it over others. They are not in a position to be preoccupied with glory, greatness, or popularity. Servants and slaves are to be lowly, living lives of humility.<\/p>\n<p>So ask yourself:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;What would God&#8217;s servant do today to serve Him?&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;What would a servant of men do today to serve them?&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;How would a servant view others and themselves?&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once you have found good and honest answers, go and do. Do what a slave of God and mankind would do.
