Also, what are similar words to &#8220;honoring?&#8221;<\/p>\n\t<h2>Answer:<\/h2>\n<p>In the New Testament you can find, &#8220;<em>Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others<\/em>&#8221; (Philippians 2:3-4). But I don&#8217;t know of an Old Testament verse that is similarly worded.<\/p>\n<p>The idea though is captured in the word &#8220;meekness,&#8221; which is discussed in both the Old and New Testament. Take a look at the sermon &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lavistachurchofchrist.org\/cms\/the-meekness-of-moses\/\">The Meekness of Moses<\/a>&#8221; for a detailed discussion and list of verses.<\/p>\n<p>There are several Hebrew and Greek words which are translated into the single English word &#8220;honor.&#8221; For example, there is the honor which you give parents, but it is different from the honor a person gives God.
