{"id":83228,"date":"2025-01-15T12:55:41","date_gmt":"2025-01-15T18:55:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lavistachurchofchrist.org\/cms\/?p=83228"},"modified":"2025-01-15T12:55:41","modified_gmt":"2025-01-15T18:55:41","slug":"lovers-of-darkness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lavistachurchofchrist.org\/cms\/lovers-of-darkness\/","title":{"rendered":"Lovers of Darkness"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\t<p>by Zeke Flores<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lavistachurchofchrist.org\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/dark-path-200x300.avif\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/>Jesus said that men love darkness rather than light because their actions are evil (John 3:19).\u00a0That makes sense since so many heinous deeds, from robbery to murder, take place under cover of darkness.<\/p>\n<p>But when light shines in darkness, it will have one of two effects: Either those who want light will be drawn to it or those who prefer darkness will scurry away from the light. Even more, lovers of light will find other light lovers while those who prefer darkness will seek out others who love the same, and it&#8217;s easy to see why; after all, no one likes their dirty deeds exposed. They&#8217;d just as soon hide them in gloomy obscurity. But those whose deeds are illuminated have the opportunity to see them for what they are. Even better, they have the opportunity to do better, thanks to the light. Staying in the dark is easy; it takes willingness and courage to come to the Light.<\/p>\n<p>One can be forgiven for being afraid of the dark; what&#8217;s tragic is when people are afraid of the light.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;<em>This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.
