 <\/p>\n I.         We \n have spoken at length in the past about the exactly who is the Holy Spirit\n             A.        We \n have shown that he is a being who is a part of the Godhead, just as the \n Father and the Son.\n             B.        He \n is made more mysterious by men because of our lack of understanding. Perhaps \n due to our lack of a name, such as Jesus or Jehovah, to attribute to him.\n             C.        People \n often pick out keywords and begin attributing actions to the Holy Spirit \n that the Bible never intended.\n II.        Let \n us begin with a verse by verse comparison (See Chart)\n             A.        Many \n people attribute a special direct operation on a person when they are \n told that the Holy Spirit does something.\n                         1.         This \n is not necessarily true. An indirect operation is still from the same \n source.\n                         2.         We \n don’t have to search for a mystical event to explain what the Spirit \n does for us, though many people have a preference for the mystical.\n             B.        The \n Bible plainly teaches that Word is the Spirit’s sword\n                         1.         Eph. \n 6:17 – The sword of the Spirit\n                         2.         Heb. \n 4:12 – It is a powerful weapon\n             C.        Example \n – Conviction\n                         1.         The \n Holy Spirit convicts the world – John 15:8\n                         2.         The \n question then is not who does the conviction, but how does the Spirit \n convict mankind?\n                         3.         Titus \n 1:9 – It is done with his sword, the word of God\n                         4.         We \n see an example of this in Acts 2:37\n                                     a.         They \n listened to Peter preach a lesson\n                                     b.         That \n lesson cut them to the heart.\n             D.        Example \n – Leading\n                         1.         Rom. \n 8:14 – The Spirit leads us\n                         2.         The \n question is not who does the leading, but how does the Spirit lead mankind?\n                         3.         Ps. \n 119:105 – It is done with the word of God, showing us a pathway to walk.\n III.       These \n are not restrictions on God, but a recognition of what the Bible plainly \n teaches.\n             A.        The \n Spirit is not the same as the Word of God. The word is a tool used by \n the Spirit.\n             B.        By \n words, the Spirit conveys the thoughts of God to the mind of men – I Cor. \n 2:13\n             C.        The \n source of our Bible is the Spirit of God\n                         1.         II \n Peter 1:21 – The Spirit is the one involved in inspiration and the delivering \n of the written word.\n                         2.         II \n Tim 3:16-17 – The Scripture is from the breath of God.\n             D.        When \n we allow the teachings of the Bible to work in our lives, the Spirit (the \n deliverer of that word) thereby changes us for the better.\n
