She doesn’t see it as a burden; she doesn’t complain. She doesn’t see herself as being in an elevated position and doesn’t worry about being in the spotlight. I’ve seen her take things in stride far better than I have. But I’ll tell you, I couldn’t have done half of what I’ve done without her.

The women of the kingdom of God deserve honor. They take on tasks that many men won’t touch and work circles around us (you know I’m right). Just consider the women who followed Jesus and administered to Him. Scripture tells us that many women provided for Jesus and the disciples “out of their means” (Luke 8:1-3).

Many preacher’s and shepherd’s wives bear unwarranted burdens, and they do what they do with smiles to encourage others. Yet they hurt and feel just like anyone else. They struggle and get discouraged just like anyone else. They need to be uplifted and encouraged, especially as they work “behind the scenes” in ways that get little recognition. Thank them for doing what many would consider thankless tasks.

My wife hears me speak and preach all the time. She has heard the same sermons multiple times. She listens to me as I vent my frustrations and offers wise counsel that calms and settles my anxieties. I’m guessing that this is common. Women often have a knack for knowing what to say appropriate to the occasion, and they do it with grace. Are we listening?

Men, appreciate the women in your life – grandmothers, mothers, wives, daughters, sisters (physically and in Christ). They do what men like me can’t. Their contribution to the kingdom is immeasurable and irreplaceable. May God bless them all.

by Doy Moyer My wife has been a “preacher’s wife” for a long time.
