I got hooked up with NOCD last year, and the counselor I’ve been working with has taught me to resist engaging with all those intrusive thoughts. It was hard at the beginning. As you refuse to negotiate with the unwanted thoughts, your anxiety will burn through the roof. But eventually, it is like it burns out, and you can start to break the habit. This has helped so much. I’m not completely free of OCD, and I don’t know if I ever will be (maybe someday).<\/p>\n
I don’t think I necessarily need to be completely free of it. I have learned so much through it. If I had never been challenged with it, I don’t think I would have come to the point I feel I’ve grown. But my goal isn’t just to feel better. I’m glad I do, but my goal is to serve Jesus.<\/p>\n
I have certainly had the best months I have experienced in years, if not my whole adult life. That’s allowed my mind to slow down and see things much clearer. Anyhow, I hope and pray I can stick with this.<\/p>\n
It’s scary to look into my heart and accept how bad I really had let myself get. I didn’t really understand how bad it was. I probably honestly thought I was a pretty good guy with just a porn problem. I know now I had let my heart turn bad. I’m so thankful that God was merciful and allowed me this opportunity. I want to be diligent and make Him proud.<\/p>\n
I just really wanted to share. I am so thankful for all that you do with that website. It is a huge help to anyone who wants to learn. I should have been trying to learn more in the earlier years of my life instead of trying to catch up in the last decade or so. But some of us are hardheaded, I guess.<\/p>\n
