See\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lavistachurchofchrist.org\/cms\/bible-studies\/the-ten-commandments\/you-shall-not-take-the-name-of-god-in-vain\/\">You Shall Not Take the Name of God in Vain<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Saying &#8220;God willing&#8221; has a purpose. It acknowledges that I am not in control of the future. Whatever I do is only accomplished if the Lord is willing for me to do the task I plan.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;<em>Come now, you who say, &#8216;Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.&#8217; Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. Instead, you ought to say, &#8216;<strong>If the Lord wills<\/strong>, we will live and also do this or that&#8217;<\/em>&#8221; (James 4:13-15).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD. All the ways of a man are clean in his own sight, but the LORD weighs the motives.
