{"id":61534,"date":"2005-06-25T08:25:00","date_gmt":"2005-06-25T13:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lavistachurchofchrist.org\/cms\/?p=61534"},"modified":"2023-06-25T08:27:55","modified_gmt":"2023-06-25T13:27:55","slug":"notes-on-judgment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lavistachurchofchrist.org\/cms\/notes-on-judgment\/","title":{"rendered":"Notes on Judgment"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\t<ul>\n<li>The determination of who enters heaven or burns in hell is God&#8217;s &#8211; Matthew 25:31-46; Romans 2:16; I Corinthians 5:13; II Thessalonians 1:7-10; II Timothy 4:8; Jude 1:9, 14-15<\/li>\n<li>God has told us, in advance, the standard of his judgment &#8211; John 12:48; Romans 2:16; II Thessalonians 1:8; James 2:11-13<\/li>\n<li>Christians will be involved in that final judgment &#8211; I Corinthians 6:2-3<\/li>\n<li>Christians are commanded to make judgments, not based on their own beliefs, but on the inspired revelation of God&#8217;s Holy Word &#8211; Matthew 7:5; John 7:24; Acts 17:11; Romans 12:1-2; I Corinthians 5:7, 12; 14:29; II Corinthians 13:15; I Thessalonians 5:21-22; I John 4:1; Revelation 2:2<\/li>\n<li>Paul left an example of making such judgment &#8211; I Corinthians 5:3; Galatians 2:11<\/li>\n<li>This judgment does not send a person to heaven, nor condemn a person to hell. It is a recognition of a person&#8217;s current obedience to God and is used to determine our association with that person &#8211; Matthew 7:15-20; Romans 16:17; I Corinthians 5:2-6, 9-13<\/li>\n<li>If a person teaches a different gospel, he is accursed &#8211; Galatians 1:6-9<\/li>\n<li>When a person is judged to be in error, we recognize that God&#8217;s word states he is condemned. It is the person in the wrong, and not the judge, who has condemned himself by his actions &#8211; Galatians 2:11-14; Titus 3:10-11; II Peter 2:1<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Standards in Judgement<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>In making judgments, we must be impartial &#8211; I Timothy 5:19-21; James 2:1,9<\/li>\n<li>In making judgment, we cannot favor ourselves over others &#8211; Matthew 7:1-5; Romans 2:1-6<\/li>\n<li>In making a judgment, we cannot make laws that God has not made &#8211;
