\nHow can I keep from singing?\nWhat though my joys and comforts die?
\nThe Lord my Savior liveth;
\nWhat though the darkness gather round!
\nSongs in the night He giveth:
\nNo storm can shake my inmost calm
\nWhile to that refuge clinging;
\nSince Christ is Lord of Heav’n and earth,
\nHow can I keep from singing?\nI lift mine eyes; the cloud grows thin;
\nI see the blue above it;
\nAnd day by day this pathway smoothes
\nSince first I learned to love it:
\nThe peace of Christ makes fresh my heart,
\nA fountain ever springing:
