In the second paragraph, the author explained the Greek and Hebrew words. I enjoy studying etymology and such things, so especially I loved this section. The explanation of the Hebrew word reads:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Hebrew word is based on a word that means &#8220;to become red,&#8221; as in when a person&#8217;s face becomes red when they are angry.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In my research elsewhere, I couldn&#8217;t find any connection to a Hebrew word meaning &#8220;to turn red.&#8221; Can you tell me more about where the author learned of the connection to turning red and what that related Hebrew word is?<\/p>\n<p>Thanks. Great article, by the way.<\/p>\n\t<h2>Answer:<\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The noun\u00a0<em>qin&#8217;ah<\/em>, which means &#8216;jealousy&#8217; or &#8216;zeal,&#8217; is derived from the verb\u00a0<em>qana<\/em>, &#8216;to be jealous.'&#8221; [&#8220;7352 qin&#8217;ah noun,&#8221; <em>The Complete Biblical Library<\/em>].<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Arabic equivalent means &#8216;to become very red,&#8217; hence the Hebrew basic meaning of &#8216;to be jealous.'&#8221; [&#8220;7349 qana verb,&#8221;\u00a0<em>The Complete Biblical Library<\/em>].<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In each case, ardour is stressed; that is, &#8216;the ardour of jealousy,&#8217; &#8216;the ardour of zeal,&#8217; &#8216;the ardour of anger,&#8217; &#8216;ardent love.&#8217; The reason for this is the root from which the Hebrew word is derived, which is to &#8216;to become intensely red (or black).&#8217; BDB derives the Hebrew meaning from this root with the explanation &#8216;from color produced in face by deep emotion.'&#8221; [C.D.
