I am in a relationship with a girl whom I love. The only problem I have with her is that she lived a sinful sexual life in the past, and it makes her continually lie to me. Most of the time she tells me that she regrets her past and has changed her life. I am confused now. I don’t trust her anymore because of her numerous lies about her past.<\/p>\n

Paul says that love “believes all things<\/em>” (I Corinthians 13:7). There is a basic trust between people who love each other. But you are missing that trust, so your love is not full. You are trying to make her into someone she isn’t. Her past doesn’t make her lie. She chooses to lie.<\/p>\n If I had to guess, I suspect that you have been pressing her to tell you all the details about her past, which she would rather forget. Instead of telling you that it is none of your business because she has left that life, she thought she could appease you with half-truths and lies. But eventually, you find out and the arguments flare up again.<\/p>\n This relationship is doing neither of you any good. You can’t accept her past is something you won’t understand or be a part of and she will continue to lie if she thinks it is beneficial to her.
