A college girl in our congregation, whose father is a deacon, became pregnant and is not married. She says she will not go forward and repent or make any statement of being sorry for her sin. I am an elder’s wife and have said to the other elders’ wives that I will not take part in a baby shower until she repents. What steps regarding this young lady should be taken now?<\/p>\n\t
The Bible requires that she be withdrawn from. “I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people; I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters, for then you would have to go out of the world. But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler–not even to eat with such a one. For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church? But those who are outside, God judges. ‘Remove the wicked man from among yourselves’<\/em>” (I Corinthians 5:9-13).<\/p>\n The elders and their wives need to study I Corinthians 5 and 6 again. There should not have been any discussion of giving a baby shower to an unrepentant fornicator. I know it sounds harsh, but sin isn’t stopped by babying the sinner who remains in her sin.
