Does the Bible support the idea that all men are created equal?<\/p>\n\t
In speaking to the Athenians, Paul stated that God “has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings<\/em>” (Acts 17:26). We are all descendants of Adam. While we are divided between different nations and languages, we are all the same — human beings created by the hand of God.<\/p>\n In determining whether we will go to heaven or hell after life on this earth, God “will render to each one according to his deeds<\/em>” (Romans 2:6). Nationality will not matter. God is impartial toward nations. “For there is no partiality with God<\/em>” (Romans 2:11).<\/p>\n Earthly wealth makes no impact on God’s judgment. “If you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot<\/em>” (I Peter 1:17-19). Riches never saved a single man.<\/p>\n Nor will position in the world make a difference. “Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men, knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free. And you, masters, do the same things to them, giving up threatening, knowing that your own Master also is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him<\/em>” (Ephesians 6:5-9). It really doesn’t matter who you are because “God shows personal favoritism to no man<\/em>” (Galatians 2:6).<\/p>\n We all start out equal, in that we are all born without sin, but we do not all remain equal. “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality<\/em>” (Colossians 3:23-25). God does not derive any satisfaction in the destruction of the wicked. He demands the same obedience from everyone. ““Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways,” says the Lord GOD. “Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin. Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord GOD. “Therefore turn and live!”<\/em>” (Ezekiel 18:30-32).<\/p>\n This same equality of treatment is to be reflected in the church. “My brethren, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with partiality. For if there should come into your assembly a man with gold rings, in fine apparel, and there should also come in a poor man in filthy clothes, and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say to him, “You sit here in a good place,” and say to the poor man, “You stand there,” or, “Sit here at my footstool,” have you not shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts? Listen, my beloved brethren: Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him? But you have dishonored the poor man. Do not the rich oppress you and drag you into the courts? Do they not blaspheme that noble name by which you are called?
