Now, if we are saved (i.e., made alive &#8211; Colossians 2:13; Ephesians 2:1, 5) before baptism, then aren&#8217;t we actually burying the living when we are baptized <strong>because<\/strong>\u00a0we have already been saved (as so many are arguing)?<\/p>\n<p>Seems to me Paul&#8217;s words, though speaking of our final resurrection, have an application to our being made a &#8220;new creation&#8221; (cf. II Corinthians 5:17). He said, &#8220;<em>Foolish one, what you sow is not made alive until it dies<\/em>&#8221; (I Corinthians 15:36). We don&#8217;t bury the living.
