I am a Christian and was baptized, but later I fornicated. I repented, it was about two years ago. We were having a discussion with a church elder since I was sick, and we believe that sickness is due to sin and that we should confess our sins and God will heal us. “We don’t go to the hospital or take drugs.” I had been trying to show the elders that going to the hospital is not against God.<\/p>\n
It was last week, when I got sick, assuming they understood what I told them, that I asked my dad (one of the church elders) to take me to the hospital. With a lot of condemnation he refused and started to question me. I didn’t lie when he asked whether I had committed a sexual sin. He told me that is why I am doubting God’s ability to heal, and he cannot support me in doubting God and worshiping idols by saying “take me to the hospital.” They believe that fornication is an unforgivable sin, so I was excommunicated from the church.<\/p>\n
Now I am wondering what to do, and what is right for me.<\/p>\n

When sin is repented of, God forgives (II Corinthians 7:10-11; I John 1:9). The idea that God continues to punish a forgiven sin contradicts the Bible’s statement that when sin is forgiven, God puts it behind His back. “For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more<\/em>” (Jeremiah 31:34).<\/p>\n I’m sorry, but your dad and your former church is teaching a false doctrine. Fornication is forgivable as seen in I Corinthians 6:9-11. What you need to do is find a church that teaches the truth.
