I came across your question and answer page when I was browsing the Internet for posts on how it is to be a schizoaffective Christian. I very often find pastors blaming mothers and demon possession, which is completely against the gospel, pushing off accountability for our sinful nature to other entities. I’m not saying all of my disorder is sin. There’s a dementia-like aspect to it when it comes to delusional and racing thoughts. But most of the time when I end up in trouble, it is because of my own pride.<\/p>\n

Thank you for taking the time to let me know that the answer helped you in your situation. Generally, people don’t know how to behave in situations they don’t understand. That is why you find people acting awkward with a disabled person: Do I offer him a hand or will he get offended at me? Mental disabilities cause the same reaction. Therefore, one way to get people past the awkward stage is to be clear about what your disabilities are and what a person can do to help (and what doesn’t help).<\/p>\n
I’m impressed that you realize that sin is the result of your own choices and that you don’t blame it on your mental condition. Few people are that objective with themselves.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
