{"id":46657,"date":"2014-04-21T19:34:00","date_gmt":"2014-04-22T00:34:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lavistachurchofchrist.org\/cms\/?p=46657"},"modified":"2022-04-21T19:35:55","modified_gmt":"2022-04-22T00:35:55","slug":"notes-on-works","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lavistachurchofchrist.org\/cms\/notes-on-works\/","title":{"rendered":"Notes on Works"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\t<h3>We are not saved by the things that we do.<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>God&#8217;s grace saves us and not works in which we could boast &#8211; Ephesians 2:8-9<\/li>\n<li>Works of the Old Testament Law cannot save, by themselves, because the Law brings the knowledge of sin &#8211; Romans 3:20<\/li>\n<li>We are justified by faith apart from works of the Old Law &#8211; Romans 3:27-28<\/li>\n<li>To be justified solely by works would allow a man to boast in his abilities &#8211; Romans 4:2<\/li>\n<li>Being saved by grace means that salvation is unearned &#8211; Romans 11:5-6<\/li>\n<li>We are not saved according to our works &#8211; II Timothy 1:9<\/li>\n<li>We are not saved on the basis of our deeds &#8211; Titus 3:5<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>We cannot be saved without doing the things God requires of us.<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>We are created by God to do good works &#8211; Ephesians 2:10<\/li>\n<li>We are commanded to do good works &#8211; I Timothy 6:18; Titus 3:1<\/li>\n<li>Let men see your good works, so God will be glorified &#8211; Matthew 5:16; I Timothy 5:25; II Timothy 2:21; I Peter 2:12<\/li>\n<li>God gives to us so that we may be able to perform good deeds &#8211; II Corinthians 9:8; II Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 13:21<\/li>\n<li>We please God by doing good works &#8211; Colossians 1:10<\/li>\n<li>Those who believe and love God will be careful to obey God &#8211; Titus 3:8; Romans 1:5; 16:26; John 14:15<\/li>\n<li>We cannot be God&#8217;s children without obeying God &#8211; I John 2:3-7; 3:4-10; 5:2-3; II John 4, 6, 9; II John 3-4, 11<\/li>\n<li>God judges us according to our works &#8211; I Peter 1:17<\/li>\n<li>Only those who obey God will enter heaven &#8211; Matthew 7:21-23<\/li>\n<li>Strengthen your heart in every good work &#8211; II Thessalonians 2:17; Titus 3:14; Hebrews 10:24<\/li>\n<li>Godly women adorn themselves by means of good works &#8211; I Timothy 2:9-10; 5:10; Acts 9:36<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are not saved by the things that we do.
