Recently my brother sent me this article:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lavistachurchofchrist.org\/cms\/must-elders-have-more-than-one-child\/\">Must elders have more than one child?<\/a> In this article, you state: &#8220;The Greek word in both I Timothy 3:4 and in Titus 1:6 is\u00a0<em>tekna<\/em>.&#8221; I follow the logic, but when I checked (according to my software), the Greek term is not\u00a0<em>tekna<\/em>, but\u00a0<em>teknon<\/em>. Since I&#8217;m not familiar with Greek I could be missing something, so I thought it would be good to check with you.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks so much for your time and help.<\/p>\n\t<h2>Answer:<\/h2>\n<p>You are looking at a Strong&#8217;s reference. Strong gives only the root word and not its various forms. For example, in English &#8220;like&#8221; is a root word from which we derive: liked, likes, liking, unlike, likable, etc. To a non-English speaker, some of these forms might not look like they come from the same root word.<\/p>\n<p>The root word in I Timothy 3:4 and Titus 1:6 is\u00a0<em>teknon<\/em>, but the actual form of the word being used in both passages is<em>\u00a0tekna. Tekna<\/em>\u00a0is the nominative and accusative form of\u00a0<em>teknon<\/em>\u00a0in the plural neuter. &#8220;Neuter&#8221; means the word doesn&#8217;t refer to a particular gender.\u00a0<em>Teknon<\/em> is also nominative and accusative but is a singular neuter word.<\/p>\n<p>Other forms of the same root word are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>teknou<\/em>\u00a0generative singular neuter<\/li>\n<li><em>tekn\u00f5<\/em>\u00a0dative singular neuter<\/li>\n<li><em>tekn\u00f5n<\/em>\u00a0generative plural neuter<\/li>\n<li><em>teknois\u00a0<\/em>dative plural neuter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Question: Good afternoon, Thank you for your labor and articles.
