My husband lost his job and because of a hard time finding work in the state that we lived in, he ended up staying with a relative in another state. During that time he decided to get involved with another woman. We have a young daughter, and I am a stay-at-home mom. My husband thinks since I am not being a helper financially, that it’s OK to find another woman who makes money to help him. He thinks because the economy is so bad that to provide my daughter with a better future he needs to find a more capable woman. He thinks God will understand. I tried helping by babysitting but the person I was babysitting for doesn’t want me to watch his kids any longer. My husband thinks I am not being a helper to him so now he is staying with this other woman. I thought that I am helping him I have to take care of my child. He wants a divorce now.<\/p>\n

Your husband is an adulterer who is willing to find any excuse to justify his sin. “Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge<\/em>” (Hebrews 13:4).<\/p>\n There is no requirement in the Bible that says a woman must contribute to providing for the family. This has always been the husband’s duty. “But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever<\/em>” (I Timothy 5:8). Women may help if they want. They might even bring in more pay than the husband. But the income is the husband’s responsibility.<\/p>\n\t Thank you for getting back. I appreciate it.
