My mom has helped me out a lot financially, but she can be confrontational and a bit abusive in her speech. I always argue with her over things, and we never can seem to get along for very long. My mom always points out what I&#8217;m doing wrong and things I&#8217;m failing to do. It seems that\u00a0as I grow closer to God the more we fight. What is your advice?<\/p>\n\t<h2>Answer:<\/h2>\n<p>Not knowing the situation, I cannot tell you whether your mother is correct and you don&#8217;t want to believe it or whether your mother is wrong about her conclusions.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;<em>Do not correct a scoffer, lest he hate you; rebuke a wise man, and he will love you. Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a just man, and he will increase in learning<\/em>&#8221; (Proverbs 9:8-9).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>A wise son heeds his father&#8217;s instruction, but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke<\/em>&#8221; (Proverbs 13:1).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Poverty and shame will come to him who disdains correction, but he who regards a rebuke will be honored<\/em>&#8221; (Proverbs 13:18).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>He who disdains instruction despises his own soul, but he who heeds rebuke gets understanding<\/em>&#8221; (Proverbs 15:32).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Rebuke is more effective for a wise man than a hundred blows on a fool<\/em>&#8221; (Proverbs 17:10).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If you find living with your mother intolerable, then the obvious solution for an adult is to move out into your own home.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Question: I&#8217;m 23 years years old and a single mom.
