I am a girl from India. Here 70% of the marriages are arranged by parents from the same caste and community. I am a person who listens to what my heart says. I am also a physical kind of person, which means I usually get attracted to smart and cute guys. Nature is also important but my thinking is when you are young, especially for marriage, physical attraction is necessary, especially for me. In India divorces because of tortures from bad husbands or dowry are highly prevalent. I got married 1.5 months before to a guy who is nice by nature but not physically attractive at all but still got married because he has a good government. in India in our society government job is considered best as compared to a private job so despite being not physically attracted I married him but then I realized I am not able to get physically involved with him. despite giving my 100% try, I am still not attracted to him. In India and especially in our society, a girl after a marriage has to spend the rest of her life with that person, unless there is some physical or mental torture is involved. I don’t know what to do. I am frustrated and confused. I want a divorce now. my family members and my friends are consulting me to give some more time but the thing is I am pretty sure after giving time also I won’t be able to get physically involved with him. and in our society getting a divorce is a big deal. I can handle it but I am worried about my family. When I apply for a divorce, the court will ask me to spend time at least 6 months or so with my husband but I don’t want that either.<\/p>\n

I’m sorry that you decided to be unhappy with your husband, but the fact remains that you chose to marry him. You had the right to refuse the marriage, but you chose to go through with it. Marriage is for life. It is not a way to sample men until you find one who excites you. “Now to the married I command, yet not I but the Lord: A wife is not to depart from her husband. But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce his wife<\/em>” (I Corinthians 7:10-11).
