Permit me to share that I love listening to my audio Bible and have covered 50 to 100 chapters a day. I have since gone through the Good Book eleven times. By late Wednesday, March 5th, I’ll complete my 12th time through as I am near completion now. Studying the word daily upward of 200 chapters a week, I tell everyone about my study. Some get jealous, others are encouraged, and some try to argue reading versus listening. And legalistic types tell me I’m not getting deep into the word because of the volume I cover weekly. I tell them not to analyze the water while it is cleansing. I cleanse my conscience with the Word.

What is your take?

Answer:

There is no one way to study the Bible. Reading or listening to the entire Bible helps you keep a sense of the whole story of the Bible and it ensures that you don’t leave sections unexamined. There is nothing wrong with what you are doing. But there is also nothing wrong with other methods of studying the Bible either.

“Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine” (I Timothy 4:13).

Response:

Very true. Your response is greatly appreciated. Reading line by line does pose a bigger challenge for most people I know and even for myself. So I feel entirely blessed to study with an audio Bible. It is my bridge to truth. In essence, the read-aloud audio is a well of truth. Besides the ease of access by sitting and listening, I feel my commitment to hearing the Word is really how my faith is building. I believe worship is the best single thing in the world. Living by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God is the only way. And my breath to believe gives me the spiritual food I need.

Question: I read your article on Reading the Bible Cover to Cover.
