We are planning to get married. The greatest hurdle we have is that my boyfriend is Catholic. Though I was raised Catholic, I converted to a protestant church. He wants me to convert back to Catholicism for the children’s sake, which I understand as we don’t want to confuse them. And also because I know the doctrines taught, being raised Catholic and all. But I don’t want to.

We talk about it, get to a deadlock, then postpone. We had agreed to have time apart as we prayed and sought God on it, but have resumed talking. We live in separate cities. We have agreed not to dwell on it until the end of the month. The wedding is scheduled to be at the end of the year. What do we do? How do we handle the issue?

Answer:

Personally, I would rather both of you focus on being Christians instead of being members of some denomination.
