However, that verse was denouncing an adulterous woman behaving like a prostitute. Why didn’t you offer a better example as the young man asking the question had a very serious dilemma about the sex drive of men being so strong, that he seemed to not understand why God would make it so overpowering but yet condemn men from having sex while unmarried. I still don’t see examples in the bible that hold up and especially not your example. No disrespect, as I am a Christian and I believe the bible is the inspired word of God, however, there is a difference between immorality and sex.

Answer:

I’ve puzzled over your statement because I can’t find any answer that matches what you claim you read. There is an answer that quotes Proverbs 7:24-27, but the question was simply, Why is sex a sin? There is no mention by the questioner about the strength of a man’s sex drive; however, the answer does address the difference between moral sex within marriage and immoral sex that takes place between people who are not married to each other. I looked up answers to questions that mentioned prostitution, the closest I found was A prostitute caused me to ejaculate and I had to pay for it. What do I do?; yet, this doesn’t mention Proverbs 7:24-27.

I’m also puzzled as to your point. Are you claiming that you can have sex with a prostitute and it not be a sin? That is easily disproved: “Do not prostitute your daughter, to cause her to be a harlot, lest the land fall into harlotry, and the land become full of wickedness” (Leviticus 19:29). “Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not!” (I Corinthians 6:15).

Or are you saying that fornication (having sex outside of marriage) is not a sin? “Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge” (Hebrews 13:4).

In regards to Proverbs 7,

Wisdom keeps a young man from sexual immorality. “That they may keep you from the immoral woman, From the seductress who flatters with her words” (Proverbs 7:5).

The story about the fall of a young man who didn’t understand involved a prostitute, “And there a woman met him, With the attire of a harlot, and a crafty heart” (Proverbs 7:10).

The conclusion is “Now therefore, listen to me, my children; Pay attention to the words of my mouth: Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, Do not stray into her paths; For she has cast down many wounded, And all who were slain by her were strong men. Her house is the way to hell, Descending to the chambers of death” (Proverbs 7:24-27).

That you personally did not like the passage selected makes no difference to me.

Question: You answered a question on your site regarding men seeking prostitutes and quoted Proverbs 7:24-27 as the answer.
