{"id":37842,"date":"2013-03-17T20:13:00","date_gmt":"2013-03-18T01:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lavistachurchofchrist.org\/cms\/?p=37842"},"modified":"2021-09-11T20:15:45","modified_gmt":"2021-09-12T01:15:45","slug":"notes-on-blood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lavistachurchofchrist.org\/cms\/notes-on-blood\/","title":{"rendered":"Notes on Blood"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\t<h2>The Blood of Jesus Christ<\/h2>\n<h3>For the forgiveness of sin and reconciliation with God<\/h3>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;<em>Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus<\/em>&#8221; (Romans 3:24-26).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him<\/em>&#8221; (Romans 5:9).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace<\/em>&#8221; (Ephesians 1:7).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins<\/em>&#8221; (Colossians 1:14).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?<\/em>&#8221; (Hebrews 9:12-14).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water<\/em>&#8221; (Hebrews 10:19-22).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate<\/em>&#8221; (Hebrews 13:12).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot<\/em>&#8221; (I Peter 1:18-19).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood<\/em>&#8221; (Revelation 1:5).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>And I said to him, &#8220;Sir, you know.&#8221; So he said to me, &#8220;These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb&#8221;<\/em>&#8221; (Revelation 7:14).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Brought in the New Covenant<\/h3>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;<em>In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, &#8220;This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me&#8221;<\/em>&#8221; (I Corinthians 11:25).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant<\/em>&#8221; (Hebrews 13:20).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Brought in the Gentiles<\/h3>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;<em>But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ<\/em>&#8221; (Ephesians 2:13).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Purchased the Church<\/h3>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;<em>Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood<\/em>&#8221; (Acts 20:28)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Destroyed Satan<\/h3>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil&#8221; (Hebrews 2:14).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Eating of Blood Forbidden<\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;<em>But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood<\/em>&#8221; (Genesis 9:4).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>but that we write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from things strangled, and from blood<\/em>&#8221; (Acts 15:20).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>that you abstain from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell<\/em>&#8221; (Acts 15:29).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>But concerning the Gentiles who believe, we have written and decided that they should observe no such thing, except that they should keep themselves from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality<\/em>&#8221; (Acts 21:25).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Used to Dedicate a Covenant<\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;<em>Therefore not even the first covenant was dedicated without blood.
