What is the proper term to call the speaker on Sunday? Is it a pastor or a preacher?<\/p>\n
Also, to be a preacher you basically have to have all the qualifications of an elder correct?<\/p>\n
And if for some reason a preacher sins, such as adultery, they would be removed from that position, correct? Even if they repented because they would no longer be qualified because of the sin? They would just become a fellow worshiper in Christ if they truly repent. Is that correct? They could no longer be a preacher because they would be no longer qualified?<\/p>\n
I know we all sin and are not perfect but elders and preachers have a high standard correct?<\/p>\n

Pastors and preachers are two different duties in the church. See Pastors and Preachers<\/a>. Preachers have different qualifications than pastors. For example, a pastor (or elder or bishop) had to be married and had to successfully have raised faithful children (Titus 1:5-6). Paul was unmarried, but he preached (I Corinthians 9:5). Timothy was a young man, but he preached. See Preachers<\/a>.<\/p>\n Everyone sins, including preachers and pastors. “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. … If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives<\/em>” (I John 1:8,10). If your rule were true then no one could preach or oversee a congregation.<\/p>\n Forgiveness means not holding a person’s past sins against them. I would agree that a person should not preach while actively being involved in sin. In fact, if a person remains in sin, they cannot be a part of the church (I Corinthians 5:1-7). Polygamy is not allowed in the church, even among members of the church. It is a form of adultery and you cannot be in adultery and be a part of the church (I Corinthians 6:9-10). However,\u00a0former<\/em> adulterers can be a part of the church (I Corinthians 6:11).
