{"id":34724,"date":"2021-04-29T12:58:06","date_gmt":"2021-04-29T17:58:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lavistachurchofchrist.org\/cms\/?p=34724"},"modified":"2022-08-12T11:17:52","modified_gmt":"2022-08-12T16:17:52","slug":"notes-on-covetousness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lavistachurchofchrist.org\/cms\/notes-on-covetousness\/","title":{"rendered":"Notes on Covetousness"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3>Prohibition<\/h3>\n<p>Exodus 20:17, &#8220;<em>Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor&#8217;s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor&#8217;s wife, nor his man-servant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbor&#8217;s.<\/em>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>Psalms 10:3, &#8220;<em>For the wicked boasteth of his heart&#8217;s desire, And the covetous renounceth, yea, condemneth Jehovah.<\/em>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>Proverbs 28:16, &#8220;<em>The prince that lacketh understanding is also a great oppressor; But he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Jeremiah 6:13, &#8220;<em>For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.<\/em>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>Ezekiel 33:31, &#8220;<em>And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as My people, and they hear thy words, but do them not; for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goeth after their gain.<\/em>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>Micah 2:1,2, &#8220;<em>Woe to them that devise iniquity and work evil upon their beds! When the morning is light they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand. And they covet fields, and seize them; and houses, and take them away and they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.<\/em>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>Habakkuk 2:9,10, &#8220;<em>Woe to him that getteth an evil gain for his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the hand of evil! Thou hast devised shame to thy house, by cutting off many peoples, and has sinned against thy soul. For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it.<\/em>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>Luke 12:13-15, &#8220;<em>And one out of the multitude said unto Him, Teacher bid my brother divide the inheritance with me.
