I was at church yesterday and the topic was “Root Causes of Sin.” My marriage didn’t start well. Prior to getting married, I fornicated with another man. When I found out that my\u00a0ex-husband\u00a0was having an affair, he\u00a0said he had affairs because of what happened prior to our marriage. Now that I’ve\u00a0heard\u00a0a sermon on the “root causes of sin,” is\u00a0my\u00a0ex-husband right that the adultery that he committed is, at the root, my fault? I’m confused.<\/p>\n

The choice to sin is the individual’s decision and, therefore, the individual’s responsibility. Your husband may have been upset by your past sins, but that doesn’t excuse his choice.
