I’m a Christian. \u00a0I’m very conservative, and I act differently from other people my age. \u00a0I’m in college right now and most girls my age like going drinking, partying, or having sex before marriage. \u00a0I’m waiting for marriage.<\/p>\n
Anyways, lately, I have found it very difficult to make friends. \u00a0Everyone is so liberal and supports things that I don’t agree with like abortions and same-sex marriage. \u00a0My question is what can I do about this? \u00a0I go to church but most of the people there are older. \u00a0Sometimes I feel like I won’t even get married because all guys want now are women who are “out there.” \u00a0What can I do to make friends? \u00a0Is it right to be friends with people that are gay or go out drinking and clubbing?<\/p>\n

The way to find people like yourself is to expand your circle of those you know. You have the church you belong to, but you should also go visit churches in the region when things are happening. When I was young, I would go hours to attend a meeting or a gathering. If there were other young people nearby, I would gather up a bunch to go. Even after my wife and I found each other and married, we would travel hours to go to a gospel meeting, Sunday night services (our local church only met in the morning), or a mid-week study that was on a different night than our own. And we did that for many years. We didn’t look at it as a burden. It was just what we did to be with like-minded people.<\/p>\n
You should be friendly with non-Christians, but not friends. Friends are too likely to influence your behavior. There is too much pressure to be one of the crowd. “Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits” <\/em>” (I Corinthians 15:33). You have to remember that people who are practicing homosexuality, drinking, or partying are not going to make it to heaven. “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God<\/em>” (I Corinthians 6:9-10).<\/p>\n Hang in there.
