In this passage, is it right that the fallen down evil spirits are healed before Jesus? If so that, should this be counted as one of the miracles of Jesus?

Question No.2 – Jesus was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light (Matthew 17:2). Is it right, the transfiguration should also be counted as one of the miracles of Jesus?

In my belief, the above are to be counted as miracles of Jesus. Moreover, the virgin birth, resurrection, and ascension are all to be treated as miracles. But generally, they do not appear in the list of miracles! Will you please share your belief in this matter?

Answer:

I doubt it is necessary to have an official list of the miracles of Jesus. I would assume it depends on whether you are counting the miracles Jesus did or the ones he was involved in. For example, Jesus was transfigured and that change was miraculous (outside the scope of natural occurrence), but I assume some aren’t certain who transfigured Jesus, whether himself, the Father, or the Holy Spirit.

The spirits falling down before Jesus only means that they gave Jesus respect. It does not mean that they changed. “You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe — and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?” (James 2:19-20). In the parallel account to Mark 3:11, we read, “And demons also came out of many, crying out and saying, “You are the Christ, the Son of God!” And He, rebuking them, did not allow them to speak, for they knew that He was the Christ” (Luke 4:41). It is the casting out of the demons which is the miracle. The fact that the demons acknowledged Jesus as the Son of God is not a miracle but a statement of fact. There is nothing miraculous about admitting the truth.

Question: Question No.1 – Whenever the evil spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God” (Mark 3:11).
