Yes, it was.\u00a0 God had said, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die<\/em>” (Genesis 2:16-17). The serpent added one little word to change the whole meaning of what God had said, and it deceived Eve.\u00a0 “Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will\u00a0not<\/strong>\u00a0surely die”<\/em>” (Genesis 3:4). Deceit is a lie.<\/p>\n “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him.
