I always believed that we have to be baptized to receive salvation, of course along with obedience to all the commandments and walking with faith in Jesus Christ. I read the verse in Peter where it is talking about Noah and the flood and being saved by water. And the Holy Spirit hit me so hard when I read it. I understood that not only is baptism a must for us but that the earth actually was baptized. And I was looking online for others who have seen and understand that verse. I wanted to point this out to you. You might already have an understanding of this, but you know where it says at His coming the elements will melt with fervent heat? I believe that this is a purification of the earth — “To Purify with Fire” and that the old will pass away and it will become new like in a resurrected state just like we will be resurrected and the meek will inherit the earth. Not just that but at His coming His glory will be so magnificent and bright that every worldly, wicked, unrighteous thing will be burned up.

So anyway, I find your site and was very glad to have come across it. I love the look of it.

Answer:

It was Noah and his family who were saved by water, not the earth. “Who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water” (I Peter 3:20).

Peter’s words don’t allow for a purifying of the earth, only complete destruction: “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? “(II Peter 3:10-12). Also, John said that there will be a different dwelling place for men. “Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away” (Revelation 21:1).

Question: I was studying baptism, and I looked up every verse I could find on baptism.
