“It is good for a man not to touch a woman<\/em>” (I Corinthians 7:1).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What is the guideline for dating and marrying an actor or actress, where a part of their job sometimes involves intimate scenes? Does this mean they have sinned? Can a Christian be a serious actor or actress during these times, which commonly involve movies that have intimate scenes?<\/p>\n\t

Answer:<\/h2>\n

After listing the numerous sins the fallen Greek society was involved in, Paul said it wasn’t just those who did them that were in the wrong. “Who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them<\/em>” (Romans 1:32).<\/p>\n

Just because a person claims to be pretending, it doesn’t make it right. Solomon talks about the man who lies to his neighbor and then tries to cover it up. “Like a madman who throws firebrands, arrows, and death, is the man who deceives his neighbor, and says, “I was only joking!” <\/em>” (Proverbs 26:18-19).<\/p>\n

Then there is the example a person leaves for others to follow. What credibility would a person have who portrays sexual scenes as an act in telling others they should remain sexually pure? We need to think about our example. “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity<\/em>” (I Timothy 4:12). Notice especially the word “purity” in this list.<\/p>\n

There is a reason that adultery and fornication are far more prevalent in the acting community than in the rest of the world. It is hard to stop the pretense even after the cameras have been put away.<\/p>\n

There have been actors and actresses who refused to portray immorality. They become notable because they are so rare. But sin is never excused because it is accepted as part of a person’s job.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
