I will seek to use plain speech, plain English as much as possible. I will use the Feast Of Unleavened Bread as a catalyst to explain partly Shadow And Substance which the Body of is Messiah. I wish to further explain that saying Jesus is fine, I choose Yeshua to be symbolic in fashion, due to Hebraic Seed (Symbolism). The Tenakh as well as Torah were not just the old paths (Everlasting Word), but they shadowed the Messiah…All the sacrifices for example pointed to Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus The Messiah). Not one sacrifice was ever made for Presumptuous (Willful) sin, only sins of ignorance, there is shadow contained in this as well, but that can be saved for another day, no pun intended. So do the Feasts-Appointed Holy Days and The Sabbath(s)Hence, Yeshua stated He came not to destroy the Torah but to fulfill! Shadowed Feasts and Prophesy…..For example: Yeshua The Messiah fulfilled The Spring Holy Days Perfectly! Therefore the rehearsal thereof is absolutely of strong significance, for we are Commanded to be Holy and Fulfill as it is written as well!!! Shaul (Paul) wrote “Let us keep the Feasts”- Amen… The Fall Holy days are yet to be fulfilled, the keeping of these days is of strong importance too, as you can see…Trumpet shall sound, Best be Atoned, To Tabernacle, with no spot, without blemish, blameless Everlastingly! Now, Yeshua was betrayed on Yom Pesach (Passover Day), he the Pesach Lamb lay in the earth for two consecutive Shabbats, Perfectly! The First Day of Unleavenend Bread, the day after Pesach is a Miqra Kodesh (Holy Convocation-Assembly) A “Special Shabbat” as well as the Seventh Day of Unleavened bread as Commanded! This will completely level the catholic doctrine of Friday crucifixion, because, Where would the First Day Of Unleavened Bread preceeding the weekly Shabbat have gone with that teaching? I will give you Strong Shadow And Substance And Prophesy Fulfilled! Drawn Nigh, Chooses YOU, Many Called-Few Chosen, Worship In Spirit An In The “Truth” (Shadow Word In And Of Itself By The Way), either accept or strong delusion, see or blind, hear or wilfully ignore, Faithful Servant in Truth or one is INCAPABLE of worshipping Yehova, Elohim Y’Israel, worship in vain, equivalent to another god before him as Spoken and Written.. Inward Jew-Covenant comprehended and kept, no longer “Gentile” Shaul wrote “No longer Strangers-Foreigners lost without Messiah” lost in their blindness, uncleanness, SIN! These are not SMALL things as Priests And Kings, We Keep!, Do you for one moment truly believe that The Shadowed Seventh Day, A Sign Forever between Yehova and His People has been done away with? Then how could there be Sabbaths when there is a New Heaven And A New Earth if the “Sign-Shadow” has been “Abolished”? See: Revelation.. “Pray That Your Flight Not Be In The Winter Nor On A Sabbath Day” Future Tense Out Of The Mouth Of The Lord Yeshua The Messiah (Prophesy), He did indeed state “Til All Be Fulfilled” Amen. Now concerning “Me” I need no biblical scholar, that would be the last thing I need, for I truly know from whence they came, trust Me! The ‘Word” and The “WORD” alone is sufficient unto Me! Shalom Shalom

Answer:

I won’t call it brainwashing as that implies your son is being manipulated against his will. What I see in his note is a young man completely deceived by the lies of a Messianic Jewish group of some sort. There are so many that I doubt I can narrow it down to which one.

These people love the idea of having knowledge that no one else has. That is why you find your son’s note filled with pseudo-Hebrew words. This can then be an opening for you. I don’t know if it will work, but just ask him if he wishes to speak in plain English, why is his note filled with what appears to be Hebrew words when he knows his dear old dad doesn’t know a lick of Hebrew. Is he trying to hide something behind fancy-sounding words?

I notice that he uses what seems to be quotes from the New Testament, but they are subtly altered and pulled way out of context. For example, he says that Paul said “let us keep the feasts.” Notice “feasts” is in the plural. But the actual quote is: “Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth” (I Corinthians 5:7-8). Seen in context, we see that Paul is talking about a single feast that involves the single sacrifice of Christ. He is referring to the Christian’s worship that revolves around the Lord’s Supper, not the Israelite’s worship.

He also alludes to, but misquotes, Jesus’ statement: “He came not to destroy the Torah but to fulfill.” The actual quote is: “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled” (Matthew 5:17-18). The word fulfilled means to be brought to completion or an end. What your son denies is that Jesus finished his work. “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes” (Romans 10:4).

So the second line of questions is to note that when Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, Satan quoted Scripture, but he pulled passages out of context to make them appear to say things different from what was really said. So why, my son, are you pulling small phrases from scattered parts of the New Testament, but not using them as originally expressed? Why are you making alterations to the words? You leave the impression that the original New Testament cannot support your beliefs, so you must reword it to suit your purpose. You state that the Word alone is sufficient for you, so why are you only using bits and pieces?

Finally, notice how much he emphasizes the shadow. Is he saying that the shadow is important today? If that is the case, he missed the fact that shadows aren’t real. “So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God. Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations–“Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,” which all concern things which perish with the using–according to the commandments and doctrines of men?” (Colossians 2:16-22). Paul asks a good question that you can ask your son. Why should anyone want to bind themselves to an old law that perished? Why celebrate a shadow when we have the reality? “For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect” (Hebrews 10:1).

If you can get his mind engaged, you might help guide him out of the deception he is in, but realize that he wants so badly to be more knowledgeable and special than everyone else that he will have a near-impossible time admitting that he was duped into believing lies. If his plain-spoken father can see more clearly than he, then he isn’t special anymore.

“The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness” (II Thessalonians 2:9-12).

As hard and as scary as it is, you have to come to grips with the fact that your son chose this group because he doesn’t want to see the truth. You can’t lead him out by trying to finding something else to blame.

Question: I wrote to you about my son who started worshipping on Saturday.
