After reading Colossians during one of my personal studies, I came across the reference to the letter from Laodicea. I wanted to find out more, so I read many commentaries to try to see what this letter was all about. No matter how many I read, their logic just didn’t make sense to me. It wasn’t the church in Nymphas’s house that didn’t make sense to me, it was the fact that they all claimed that Archippus was a preacher at Colossae. Right away I thought, “Why would the church at Colossae have to remind Archippus of his duty in the Lord if he was their preacher?” Common sense told me that He, Archippus, not only would have been included in the greeting of the epistle (as he was in the epistle to Philemon), He would have been one of the first ones to read the letter if he was indeed a preacher at Colossae. If that was so, Paul would have directly addressed and reminded Archippus of his duty in the Lord with his own hand. I find it reassuring that others have come to the same conclusion on their own as I did. Well, not on our own, It is clear that it was the Holy Spirit teaching us the deep things of Christ as promised by Jesus in the gospel according to John. I just wanted to let you know how encouraged I was by seeing your conclusion on the matter of the “missing” letter from Laodicea.

May the Grace of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ, be with you to the end of the ages.

Answer:

I’m glad you found the study useful.

Question: Greetings to you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
