{"id":23295,"date":"2010-05-07T21:51:00","date_gmt":"2010-05-08T02:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lavistachurchofchrist.org\/cms\/?p=23295"},"modified":"2020-06-10T21:53:29","modified_gmt":"2020-06-11T02:53:29","slug":"how-long-did-job-suffer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lavistachurchofchrist.org\/cms\/how-long-did-job-suffer\/","title":{"rendered":"How long did Job suffer?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\t<h2>Question:<\/h2>\n<p>During our midweek services the question was asked; &#8220;How long did Job suffer?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to Job 2:13, it lasted for 7 days and 7 nights.\u00a0 But then I read Job 7:3 and the implication is months.<\/p>\n<p>What are your thoughts?<\/p>\n\t<h2>Answer:<\/h2>\n<p>We don&#8217;t know. Job 7:3 says, &#8220;<em>So I have been allotted months of futility, and wearisome nights have been appointed to me.<\/em>&#8221; and Job 29:2 says, &#8220;<em>Oh, that I were as in months past, as in the days when God watched over me.<\/em>&#8221; Also Job 30:16 and Job 30:27 talks of the days of his affliction. Since he doesn&#8217;t measure his suffering in terms of years, I think it reasonable to say it was less than a year, but more than two months.<\/p>\n<p>Job 2:13 only states that when Job&#8217;s three friends came that they sat with him for seven days and seven nights before trying to talk to him.
