My ex-husband has been or was (depending on your biblical view) a Christian for 35 years. We were married for over 30 years when he told me he was leaving me because he is gay and is now a practicing homosexual. What happens about him going to heaven? If you believe once saved, always saved, then he will be going to heaven, but what about the sin he is engaging in? Or if you believe you can lose your salvation, then he won’t be going to heaven? Maybe someone can give me some ideas. I don’t believe you are born homosexual.<\/p>\n\t

Of course, people aren’t born homosexuals, no more than a person is born a thief or a murderer. While those promoting homosexuality are heavily engaged in a campaign to make their particular chosen sin socially acceptable, smatterings of truth are leaking out. For example, the American Psychological Association recently stated in “Answers to Your Questions for a Better Understanding of Sexual Orientation & Homosexuality,”<\/p>\n

“There is no consensus among scientists about the exact reasons that an individual develops a heterosexual, bisexual, gay or lesbian orientation. Although much research has examined the possible genetic, hormonal, developmental, social, and cultural influences on sexual orientation,\u00a0no findings have emerged that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors<\/strong>. Many think that nature and nurture both play complex roles….” [APA revises ‘gay gene’ theory<\/a>.]<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Isn’t it amazing that a person can choose homosexuality and people will declare that they have become true to the way they were born, but when you point out that homosexuals can leave their sin behind the same people get up in arms to declare that you can’t leave homosexuality without causing “harm?”<\/p>\n

It doesn’t matter what a person wants to believe, the fact is that the Bible doesn’t teach once saved, always saved. It teaches the opposite. “Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience<\/em>” (Hebrews 4:11). According to Paul, no homosexual (or any other sinner) will make it to heaven. “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God<\/em>” (I Corinthians 6:9-10). While your ex-husband remains in his sin, he prevents himself from receiving eternal life.
