I have read\u00a0the article on modest dress<\/a> in the Bible and agree whole-heartedly. There are a few points that I would like to clarify and ask your opinion on, however. Please bear with me. Does the verse from Deuteronomy 22:5 refer also to “under” garments? I have found that the “boxer brief” type of underclothing is generally considered a man’s garment but is more modest under a skirt or dress. Also, there is a verse I Corinthians 11:5 that says a woman is not to pray or prophesy with her head uncovered. Does this mean that she is to wear a veil or some sort of hat or covering for her head or is this referring to her hair?<\/p>\n\t

“A woman shall not wear anything that pertains to a man, nor shall a man put on a woman’s garment, for all who do so are an abomination to the LORD your God<\/em>” (Deuteronomy 22:5).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

God told the Israelites that there must be a distinction in style between men’s and women’s clothing. It is a part of the respect we have that God made us different. Therefore, the practice of cross-dressing is sinful.<\/p>\n

I agree that the boxer style is more modest as an undergarment for skirts. However, you don’t have to go to the men’s clothing to find these for women — the older name for this style was called “bloomers” and you can find lady’s long-legged panties in some stores. Just as examples see: Plainly Dressed<\/a> and Bloomers4u<\/a>.<\/p>\n
