The word selection in the King James and New King James versions is unfortunate because the word “mansion” carries connotations not found in the Greek wording of this passage. The Greek word is\u00a0mone<\/em>, which means a place to stay or a residence.<\/p>\n
Jesus is discussing with his disciples the fact that he was leaving them. They wanted to go with him, but Jesus told them they would have to stay for a while. They would be able to join him later.
