An article in our paper stated aboriginal people were in Australia at least 60,000 years ago. Could this statement be in line with the Bible in regards to time?

Answer:

Of course, the commonly stated times conflict with the Bible. Those advocating that the earth existed for billions of years are happy to tell you that they don’t believe in God or the Bible. Though there are thousands of ways to measure the age of the earth and the vast majority yield answers in the 10,000 years or less, the ones selected are those which give large ages. This is because to claim that the world arrived at its current state without God would require large quantities of time for random events. Even with the incredibly large numbers in play today, the odds still show that evolution is a mathematical impossibility. If the existence of the world is as short as the Bible records, well, evolution wouldn’t even be worth considering.

The newspaper article states that aborigines were in Australia for 60,000 years. But notice that it doesn’t offer any proof for its number. It doesn’t tell you how it was measured. It doesn’t note the accuracy of the measurement. It just states it and you’re expected to just swallow it with no questions. That is the typical way evolutionary beliefs are presented.

For me, the Bible has been repeatedly proven to be accurate. I would rather accept God’s word than man. “Let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written: “That You may be justified in Your words, and may overcome when You are judged.”” (Romans 3:4).

Question: Do you think there is a conflict between the Bible and historians regarding when man first existed on this earth?
