That is an old myth from the days when people assumed that red fruits were poisonous. The tree was a unique tree called the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Other than the fact that it was a fruit-bearing tree, we know little else about it. &#8220;<em>And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, &#8220;Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die&#8221;<\/em>&#8221; (Genesis 2:16-17).<\/p>\n<p>Second, the Bible is quite clear that the Devil appeared in the form of a serpent to tempt Eve.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;<em>Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, &#8220;Has God indeed said, &#8216;You shall not eat of every tree of the garden&#8217;?<\/em>&#8220;&#8221; (Genesis 3:1).<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ<\/em>&#8221; (II Corinthians 11:3).<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it<\/em>&#8221; (John 8:44).<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him<\/em>&#8221; (Revelation 12:9).<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years<\/em>&#8221; (Revelation 20:2).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Question: So is the Devil the apple that Adam and Eve ate?
