Text: Isaiah 32<\/p>\n
The government will change. The king will reign in righteousness, and the princes will rule justly. Instead of a cause of problems, they will be a refuge. Similar prophecies are found in Jeremiah 23:5 and Zechariah 9:9. It alludes to the same discussion in Isaiah 9:6-7 and Isaiah 11:1-4. The king would be Jesus, and his princes would be the apostles.<\/p>\n
Society will change. People will actually see the truth, comprehend it, and speak it clearly (John 8:31-32). This contrasts with the blindness and refusal to accept the truth that Isaiah pointed out earlier (Isaiah 6:9-10; 29:10-14).<\/p>\n
Morality will be applied consistently. Fools will not be revered as nobles. The rogue will not be called generous.<\/p>\n
After the wonderful view of the future, you would think that the people would be excited. Instead, the women are scolded because they are satisfied with how things are and are not listening (Isaiah 3:16-26). It won’t be long — just over a year — and trouble will start. Crops will fail, the government will be broken, and the population will decrease. In such troubled times, they will not be able to remain complacent. The devastation is so certain that the women are urged to start dressing for mourning now.<\/p>\n
The devastation would continue until the Spirit is poured out. In Luke 4:16-21, Jesus quotes Isaiah\u00a0 61:1, which also speaks of the coming of the Spirit. The time of change is when Jesus comes and establishes his kingdom — his church. The result is a society that is at peace (Ephesians 2:17-22). Peace is the consequence of the Spirit’s influence (Ephesians 5:22-23).<\/p>\n
