There were four hundred years of silence between the Old and New Testaments.<\/p>\n<h2>The Life of Jesus<\/h2>\n<p>The silence ended with the coming of John, the Baptizer, who announced the Anointed One (the Messiah or the Christ) would soon arrive. The life of the Christ was so important that God gave us four different records. The collection of books is known as the Gospels. The word Gospel means &#8220;good news.&#8221; Jesus&#8217; purpose in coming was to bring in salvation for mankind and to establish a church for those saved.<\/p>\n<h2>The Early Church<\/h2>\n<p>After Jesus died and was resurrected, his church was established.
