Example: John 1:1-18\n<br \/>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<p>&#10157;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;Comparison: Two things are compared to show similarities. Example: II Timothy 2:3<\/p>\n<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<p>&#10157;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;Contrast: Two things are compared to show differences. Example: II Timothy 1:9<\/p>\n<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<p>&#10157;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;Repetition: A word or phrase is repeated to highlight an idea. Example: John 1:1-14<\/p>\n<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n&#10157;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;Progression: A series of ideas each building upon the previous idea. Example: John 1:1,\n14, 17.\n<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<p>&#10157;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;Climax: The pinnacle reached by a progression.<\/p>\n<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n&#10157;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;Pivotal Point: Where a change occurs in a story or presentation. Example: Matthew\n24:35 is the pivot between Matthew 23:1-24:34 and Matthew 24:36-25:46. Or, the book\nof Acts first follows Peter and then Paul.\n<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n&#10157;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;Radiation: A central idea from which or to which other ideas point. Example: I\nCorinthians 15 radiates around the theme of the resurrection.\n<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n&#10157;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;Interchange: A sequential alternation between two or more ideas. Example: At the\nbeginning of Luke the story alternates between John and Jesus.\n<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n&#10157;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;Deductive Reasoning: A presentation of proof moving from a general idea to a specific\npoint.\n<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n&#10157;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;Inductive Reasoning: A presentation of proof giving a series of specific points to draw a\ngeneral conclusion.\n<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n&#10157;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;Cause and Effect: Example: The cause of Lazarus&#8217; death (John 11:4) lead to the\nfollowing effects (John 11:45; 12:17-18).\n<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n&#10157;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;Explanation: An idea is presented and then explained. Example: The discussion of the\nbread of life in John 6.\n<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<p>&#10157;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;Interrogation: A question is then followed by an answer. Example: Romans 6:1-2<\/p>\n<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n&#10157;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;Summary: Restating the highlights of something given in detail earlier.
